Damien Museum - Father Damien, the Belgian missionary famed for helping those afflicted with Hansen's Disease, has his own musuem in Waikiki. Though he is most famous for his hospital located on the island of Molokai, this museum features, among others, several exibits and a short video that packs an emotional wallop. - 130 Ohua Avenue, Waikiki. - 808-923-2690.

First Hawaiian Bank - - This bank features a large display of murals by French painter Jean Charlot depicting famous scenes in Hawaiian history. 2181 Kalakaua Avenue.

Halekulani - Beachfront estate and setting of the Charlie Chan mystery, "The House Without a Key". - 2199 Kalia Road.

Aloha Tower - Once historic Honolulu's tallest building and now the waterfront center for shopping, dining and entertainment all week long. Great views and a wonderful people. - On the waterfront at Honolulu Harbor.

IMAX Waikiki Theatre - This IMAX theatre features a movie screen that stands nearly five-stories high and 70 feet wide. Needless to say, a trip to the IMAX entails complete and total audience immersion and is not a trip easily forgotten. - 325 Seaside Avenue. Admission: $8.50.

International Market Place - This open-air market features a variety of traditional artisans and craftsmen, including basket-weavers and wood-cutters. A great place to pick up a few souvenirs. - 2330 Kalakaua Avenue.

Kahuna Stones of Waikiki - According to legend, four Tahitian wizards transferred their mysterious powers to these stones. Kahuna translates from Polynesian as "wizard". - Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head side of Sheraton Moana Surfrider.

Royal Hawaiian Hotel - This flamboyantly colored hotel first opened its doors in 1927, and has since become a famed tourist attraction. A trip through its lobby, painted pink, out to its lush coconut groves recalls the era when it first opened. - 2259 Kalakaua Avenue.

Sheraton Moana Surfrider - This famed, artsy hotel is on Nationel Register of Historic Places and this year, celebrates 100 years of business. - 2365 Kalakaua Avenue.

Urasenke Foundation - The Urasenke foundation hopes to provide visitors with a basic introduction to Japanese culture, and features an authentic Japanese-style tea house. - 245 Saratoga Road. Minimum Donation: $2.

US Army Musuem - Though this museum's primary focus is on the US Army's involvement in the second world war, it also features some good, solid info pertaining to the actions of the US Army during the Vietnam War. - Ft. DeRussy Building, 32 Kalia Road.
