The island of Oahu is the tourist, business, political, military, media, and population of Hawaii. Everything is concentrated in and around the capital of Honolulu, the international airport, and the many military bases on the island. Honolulu is an east-west meeting place for all the Pacific nations, and it shows.
Over on the left-hand side, you'll find links to Oahu information, guides to area's on the island, suggtestions for tours around Oahu, lots of info on the various beaches, as well as some stories about the Aloha Flea Market, and a hike up Waikiki's Diamond Head.
Fortunately for everyone Oahu is blessed with many, many great beaches and miles of beautiful coast, so if you're looking for a "Hawaiian" vacation of sandy beaches, sunsets, as well as the feel of an international city with all the amenities, you'll be right at home.
The famed Waikiki Beach is just a slice of the city of Honolulu, and it's here where you'll find a resort or hotel room for every budget. Waikiki is a unique place and there's nothing like it in Hawaii. It's like a busy town where everyone's just visiting to sun on the beach and enjoy the nightlife, but Honolulu is filled with historical landmarks of both local, national, and international significance.
On the other end of this small island you'll come to the town of Haleiwa on Oahu's spectacular North Shore, where surfing is a way of life, while just a little east of Honolulu there are amazing vistas, beaches, and mountains. The Windward side of Oahu is residential Hawaii and offers a good break from Honolulu's fast life.
