Interesting fact about Honolulu :: No other American city has a royal palace in the center of its capital district. The Iolani Palace was the residence of Hawaii's ruling monarchy until 1893, and stands today as a proud reminder of Hawaii's past. The haunting melody "Aloha `Oe" was written by Hawaii's last monarch, Queen Liliuokalani, in the Iolani Palace, as she prepared to depart to seek aid in restoring Hawaii's monarchy.
