Kamaole Beaches #1-3
Kihei area, Maui, Hawaii. These three white-sand beaches are all within a short distance of each other. The beaches here are good for their swimming and bodysurfing, while a reef found between Beaches #2 and #3 make for especially good snorkeling.
Location :: All found off of South Kihei Road, Kihei.
Access :: South Kihei Road.
Services :: All three beaches feature picnic tables, restrooms, and lifeguards, while Kamaole #3 sports a children's playground. Also, all three beaches lie within walking distance of shopping/dining in the city of Kihei.
Kalepolepo Beach Park
Kihei area, Maui, Hawaii. Due to its small size and relatively gentle wave action, the beach here is generally good for children and non-swimmers.
Location :: Off of South Kihei Road, just north of Menehune Shores, Kihei.
Access :: South Kihei Road.
Services :: None.
Notes :: The six-acre Koieie Fishpond is a short walk from the beach. Hundreds of years ago, the thriving community of Kalepolepo occupied the site of modern-day Kihei. The Koieie Fishpond stands as one of the last testaments to this vanished town.
Kalama Park
Kihei area, Maui, Hawaii. Covering 36 acres, this large park is quite popular among local families. It features, in addition to its many facilities, beautiful views of Molokini and Haleakala. The beach here is small and little visited, making Kalama much better suited to a family outing than a beach party.
Location :: Off of South Kihei Road, about 1/4 of a mile south of the Kihei town center, Kihei.
Access :: South Kihei Road.
Services :: Pavilions, picnic tables, barbecue facilities, volleyball courts, basketball courts, tennis courts, a baseball diamond, a soccer field.
Notes :: At the far southern end of the park, is another smaller park area known as Cove Park, where locals sail miniature boats on the water.
Ma Poina Oe Lau Beach County Park
Kihei area, Maui, Hawaii. Though it does feature good, safe swimming, strong afternoon winds make Ma Poina Oe Lau a haven for the windsurfing crowd.
Location :: Along South Kihei Road, northern outskirts of Kihei, fronting the Maui Lu Hotel.
Access :: South Kihei Road.
Services :: Showers, restrooms, picnic facilities.
Notes :: Beach parking is fairly limited.
