From Waihee to Kahana, these are the beaches of Maui's North Shore around Kahalui. Read this "Star-Bulletin" article about beach safety in Hawaii.
Waihee Beach County Park
North Coast: Kapalua to Kahalui, Maui, Hawaii. Found at the northern edge of the Waiheu Golf Course, this secluded beach park is seldom seen by tourists. Local fishermen often come here to spear fish inside the coral reef.
Location :: Northern edge of Waiheu Golf Course, off of Lower Waiheu Road.
Access :: Lower Waiheu Road.
Services :: None.
Notes :: Though Waihee is only supposed to be used during the day, some people still camp here overnight.
Waiehu Beach County Park
North Coast: Kapalua to Kahalui, Maui, Hawaii. Bordering the southern edge of the golf course, the beach here, like Waihee, is seldom-visited and otherwise unremarkable. Sunbathing is good here, as is the swimming on calm days.
Location :: Southern edge of Waiheu Golf Course, off of Lower Waiheu Road.
Access :: Lower Waiheu Road.
Services :: None.
Kahana Beach Park
Kahalui vicinity, Maui, Hawaii. A broad beach fringed by extensive groves of trees, Kahana is a beautiful stretch of sand, and the only real beach of any note in all of Kahalui.
Location :: Kahalui, along Amala Street.
Access :: Amala Street.
Services :: Picnic tables, barbecue pits, restrooms, pavilions.
Notes :: Kahana is, without a doubt, the best the island has to offer to beginning sailboarders. The winds are strong and steady, the wave action gentle.
