North Shore Beaches
Kauai's wild North Shore stretches east to west from Haena over to Kilauea Lighthouse, but is best known for Hanalei Bay. There are several beaches fringed with offshore coral reefs, but visitors should pay careful attention to weather and beach conditions.
Lihue & South Shore Beaches
Kauai's nicest beaches are on the coastal arc from Poipu to Lihue, which is also home to some of the island's best hotels and resorts. South Shore is generally drier and sunnier, and the beaches calmer.
Coconut Coast Beaches
Lydgate Beach near Wailua is the beach of choice on the Coconut Coast, but there are others to explore and enjoy nearby.
Waimea, West Kauai Beaches
The Waimea District out in west Kauai has a rugged coastline, but there are a few beaches worth exploring.
