Picture Tours of Hawaii

Snapshots of Hawaii

A picture is worth a thousand words, and there are thousands of pictures of Hawaii on the WWW because above all people want to "see" pictures of what they're reading about.

To view all these pictures of Hawaii I'd suggest you check out one or two picture sites at a time and have fun. Bookmark this page and come back to re-check what you've seen and to continue working your way down the page.

Hawaii's pictures will help you decide if you want to spend your time at Lahaina or Kona, at Volcano or Waikiki. If you're not familiar with the islands, then keep a map at your keyboard and try and match the photos with landmarks on your map.

  • University of Hawaii Virtual Field Trips - This picture site started out as a Web tutorial project, and is one of the best picture tours of the islands online. Each of the six islands on the site have several separate Hawaiian picture tours. Oahu has six picture tours with each tour using aerial views to orientate viewers to the islands.

  • Hawaii Tours Online - This site features the Hawai'i "Natural and Built Environment" and is run by the Architectural, Engineering and CAD Technologies program at Honolulu Community College. This is an incredible picture journey through Hawaii and a joy to behold. Picture tours include Waikiki, "Arizona," downtown Honolulu, Windward Oahu. Other islands are still in the works, but I'd recommend any of the Oahu tours. Not only do you get good pictures and a feel for the city, but the written comments and descriptions of Honolulu and area are very good.

  • Hawaii CC Photo Collection - Seventy-five pictures from around Oahu with most in the Honolulu area. A good site to check out if you're just looking to see what a certain landmark looks like, but as this was created by community college students, it's got a nice non-tourist flair to it.

  • Maui Photo Tours - KPOA is an AM station on Maui and they have a good set of pictures and tours on their Website. Here you'll find tours of the Bailey House, downtown Lahaina, Lahaina tour, parasailing tour, road to hana, tropical plantation tour, whaling museum tour.

  • Diamond Head Walk - The extinct volcano at Diamond Head just east of Waikiki is Hawaii's best known landmark, and hiking to the top to see the views of the beaches, the mountains and Honolulu, is a great way to start your morning (go early to beat the heat). This site shows you what's in store for you and how to do it.

  • Waikiki Tour - A companion to the "Diamond Head Walk," here's the best way to get acquainted with the Waikiki area on the Web. The Webmaster simply went for a walk through Waikiki on Good Friday and snapped pictures as he went. Have your map near your keyboard so you can plot out your own walking tour.

  • Honolulu Traffic Cams - True, these aren't tourist pictures. There cams of street intersections, but a very easy way to get familiar with Honolulu. There are 88 web cams linked into this system, as well as many other resource pages from around the Honolulu area. The Ala Moana cams and the H1 cams will help you orientate yourself if you're getting a rental car.

  • Kailua Beach - Some say Kailua is the number one beach in all Hawaii. It's on the Windward side of Oahu in the small town of Kailua and they might be right. But see for yourself. This site is packed with dozens of pictures of the beach and the surrounding area.

  • Surfline Webcams - A nice assortment of five Hawaiian webcams at Pipeline, Waimea, Sunset Beach, South Shore, and Kawaihae. All are well worth a look because afterall aren't you coming to Hawaii for the sun, sand and surf?

  • Volcano World - Volcano World has a good selection of photos of Hawaii's volcanoes.

  • Underwater Hawaiian Photo Gallery - Here's a nice selection of underwater pictures from around the islands.

  • Pictures of Hawaii - Here's an easy-to-use page of some tourist photos if you want to really get a feel for the sights of Maui. Nicely arranged and beautifully framed.
