Beaches of the Big Island of Hawaii
Kona Coast Beaches
The sunny and dry lava coast of the Big Island is a sun worshipper's paradise. Though the best beaches are clustered around Kailua, every beach has something to offer Hawaii's friends and family.
South Kona :: Kailua-Kona :: North Kona
Kohala Coast Beaches
The leeward side's hot coast is where you'll find the island's most magnificent seaside resorts and beaches. The beaches on the South Kohala Coast are well-known for their swimming and leisurely waters.
Hamakua Coast Beaches
The northern coast of the Big Island has wild and remote beaches, perfect for the explorer.
Hilo Coast Beaches
Around Hilo you'll find plenty of beaches for relaxing, but the nicest seem to start just east of town.
Puna Coast Beaches
The wetter side of the Big Island also has plenty of black sand beaches and still more magnificent vistas. There's even one with a thermally heated pool, as well as a popular nude beach.
Kau Coast Beaches
Kau's beaches sometimes can be more than anyone bargains for. Kau is remote and battered by very strong winds and currents, so be cautious while you enjoy the sun, wind, and sky.
