About South Point - Kau (Big Island) :: Big Island's southern tip is an open landscape of tall coastal grass, black sand beaches, and inland forests between the Volcano's fury and Kona's resorts, and stretches about 84 miles along the southern arc of Highway 11 (Hawaii Belt Rd.). Those who stop can explore a unique landscape of ocean, grass, sun, and wind.

South Point Towns :: Pahala, Naalehu.

Wood Valley Temple (Tibetian).

South Point Beaches

Kau's beaches sometimes can be more than anyone bargains for. Kau is remote and battered by very strong winds and currents, so be cautious while you enjoy the sun, wind, and sky.

South Point Outdoors :: Punaluu (black sand beach), Mahana Beach (green sand beach), Naalehu monkeypod trees.

Interesting fact about South Point :: South Point, also known as Ka Lae, is the southernmost point in the United States. It's more than 1,000 further south than Los Angeles, California, and the site where, it is thought, the first Polynesians landed in the Hawaiian islands.

Remember :: Before driving down South Point Road to the tip of Ka Lae, check the local driving conditions and the weather, especially if you plan on taking in the green sand beach at Mahana.
